What is a medical cannabis recommendation?

A medical cannabis recommendation is a document that states that a specific person has a medical condition for which a medical doctor recommends that they procure cannabis as a medicine to help treat it. Once written by the doctor, that patient can either go directly to the dispensary for their medicine or (in some states) will be asked for the patient to register with the state first, then go to the dispensary for their medicine.

How long is my marijuana recommendation valid for and can I renew it?

Starting in 2018, a medical marijuana recommendation can only be valid for a year before it requires renewal. Any recommendation that is issued after January 1, 2018, and which exceeds a one-year period is considered invalid.

Will I be on any type of public database?

Absolutely not. Our platform utilizes HIPAA (health insurance portability and accountability act) compliant servers to privately store your information. It cannot be found on any public record or database. Your anonymous patient ID number can be verified through our site by dispensaries, but only at your discretion.

Do you accept insurance?

Currently, because cannabis is federally illegal, insurance cannot be accepted.

Can I own or buy a gun if I use marijuana?

The federal Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms sent letters to gun dealers in 2011 warning them they could not sell to known marijuana users. When buying a gun, question 11E on the ATF form asks, "Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana?" Answering yes makes you ineligible to purchase; falsely answering no is in principle punishable as perjury. This should not affect current gun owners.

Will I be placed on a government list if I get a cannabis recommendation?

No way. Your information is confidential to you and your doctor. Your medical information is maintained in a secure system that is HIPAA compliant (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act). How do I renew my recommendation?

In order to renew your recommendation, you must be re-evaluated through our online health questionnaire. From there, the physician will determine whether you may renew your recommendation.

How long will it take to complete my assessment?

Every assessment is a little bit different based on how the patient answers the questions, but the average time is about 10 minutes.

Our doctors are reviewing assessments and conducting follow-ups daily, from 7AM to 10PM.

Am I guaranteed to receive a medical cannabis recommendation?

No. One of our licensed medical doctors will assess your health condition and make a decision based on their best professional judgement. If your application is denied, and you feel there was an error, or you should provide more information, or you simply disagree, you will be granted an opportunity to appeal the doctor's decision.

Can my recommendation be mailed to another state?

It sure can. Your recommendation may be mailed to any address in the United States. However, the recommendation is only valid for use in the State you are receiving your recommendation in, and dispensaries are not able to ship products across state lines.

How and where can I use my marijuana recommendation?

Each recommendation, regardless of its form, will come with a verification number which can be checked 24/7 by any dispensary in your State.

Do I have to walk into a dispensary?

Not necessarily. Your recommendation may be valid for delivery services throughout your State, if available.
